About Me

My name is Valeria Rosario, I was born and raised in Tampa Florida.  I am currently going to school with hopes of becoming a Speech Language Pathologist. I am fluent in both English and Spanish and while taking classes i've learned there is a lack of bilingual Speech Language Pathologist in our area. I have also spoken with different parents and learned their struggle of find therapist for their children and having to wait months and even years to find a bilingual therapist. I am dedicated to raising awareness and bridging the gap in bilingual speech-language pathology services, especially right here in Tampa.

Why this matters?

The Impact of Limited Bilingual Speech-Language Pathologists in Tampa Bay” is an important issue because it directly affects access to equitable and effective care for children and families in a diverse community. As a Tampa native, I have seen firsthand how the shortage of bilingual (English-Spanish) clinicians creates long wait times and forces families to choose between delayed services or therapy in a language that may not fully reflect their child’s needs. Through my studies and conversations with parents, it has become clear that this gap can slow a child’s communication development and add stress for families trying to advocate for appropriate support. As an aspiring bilingual Speech-Language Pathologist, I am committed to raising awareness of this disparity and helping expand access to culturally and linguistically responsive services in Tampa Bay.
